This back yard was the neighborhood swimming pool while the homeowner’s children were growing up. The pool was dismantled and filled in to become a small but charming private garden.
The large expanse of fencing was softened with a variety of plantings that will grow to provide privacy from neighboring views. The irregular rectangles of blue stone paving add classic structure and lead to three different seating areas in this small garden. The water feature is a burgundy pot that repeats the color of several plants in the garden as well as providing the musical sound of water.
The back entryway was framed with a pergola and built to reflect the architecture of the home. The overhead trellis line breaks up the towering expanse of the back wall and appears to reduce the size to a more human scale.
